Trust me when I tell you back in May 2006, I had every intention of retiring from teaching college. I made plans to immerse myself into huge projects and to focus on helping more people!
Why is it over the summer, I received emails and phone calls from previous students begging me to stay! Many of them made a solid case as to why I should stay. Even after hearing their arguments, I was still against going back!
Don’t get me wrong, I love teaching but I need more freedom to do things my way! My way isn’t right or wrong…it just works! Period!
As I worked on finalizing two projects, I got an email that stated, “Shawn, you know you teach tonight right?” I had no idea I was teaching a college class that night. I almost said, “No!”
Then I paused for a minute, took a step back and realized something…since leaving in May, I have learned a lot of new stuff that I need to share with students. So, I said a prayer and made the call to let them know I will be coming back.
Ironically, after ten years of teaching, this next year will definitely be my best one! Now if I could just stay retired long enough to get some of my projects completed! ![]()
