I recently read, “The Richest Man in Babylon” and it reminded me of how simple it is to become wealthy.
Instinctively, I’ve known this for many years! And while I did apply many of the strategies outlined in the book I wasn’t as consistent as I should have been.
So, I made a promise to myself to be more consistent with managing my finances. Don’t get me wrong, I do an excellent job! But there’s always room for improvement.
The wealth building principle in the book was so simple yet it may be difficult for you.
All you have to do is:
- Pay yourself first (10%)
- Pay tithes and/or invest (20%)
- Live off of the rest (70%)
See how simple that is! But can you do it?
The goal is to reduce your living expense so they fall into the 70% range. That means the excessive spending has to end. No more living beyond your means.
Now the question is, “How will you invest your ten percent?” Will it be in the stock market, mutual funds, real estate, etc.
Here’s a tip…invest it in education first! In other words, find someone who is wealthy and offer to take them to lunch so you can learn from them.
Or, you can get access to the material they read and learn the techniques they used to build wealth.
“Where do I get that information? How much will I have to invest?” is what you are thinking!
Well, I read a lot of books and network with a lot of people in the know. One of them revealed something to me that literally floored me. So, I’ll share it with you and you decide if it’s right for you!
